June Street Studios is led by the creativity and drive of Janna Ugone of Easthampton, Massachusetts. Best known for her signature ceramic and parchment lamp shades, Janna is expanding her product line to include other lighting products and decorative accessories, as well as a collection of licensed products which complement the existing business.
Janna began her artist apprenticeship in kindergarten when she became the art teacher’s assistant, a position she continued throughout her entire school career. She applied herself in decorative arts and jewelry, becoming a competent silversmith by the age of 16. Throughout college she focused on jewelry and hand-painted ceramics. Janna worked in the corporate world as a Director of Marketing and New Product Development for a consumer goods company before starting her own lamp business in 1987. The business has grown and flourished based on the superior design and craftsmanship of her lamps, each one made by hand in her Easthampton studio. Janna’s style is a contemporary expression of the Arts and Crafts movement, a modern day William Morris. The distinctive lamps are carried in 250 galleries and designers' and lighting studios, as well as in mail order catalogues. The product line has expanded from lamps and shades to include wall sconces and mirrors.
