What is art licensing, anyway?
Art licensing means allowing someone to use artwork on a product in exchange for compensation. Artwork is used on wallpaper, china, placemats, tapestries, calendars, and any other product you can imagine (and even some you can’t) to make the product more attractive and marketable. Compensation to the artist is usually on a royalty basis, meaning the artist receives a percentage of the manufacturer's sales from products containing her/his artwork. See Licensing Basics for more.
